ABOUT CYO

The Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa sponsors the CYO (Catholic Youth
Organization) basketball program as one dimension of its ministry to youth.
The program is open to any child (Catholic or non-Catholic) who resides
within a parish's boundaries as established by the Santa Rosa Diocese.

The following are the parishes that participate in the CYO program:

The program is open to 3rd through 8th grade students.  With the exception of
the 3rd grade level, children are placed on teams based on their skill level
(Division I, II, III, IV, etc., until every team is placed ) at the time of a
skill assessment.

Each parish's program operates under the direction of an Athletic Director.
The Athletic Director is responsible for assuring the integrity of the
program and has the final say in the way the program is run within the CYO
bylaws and rules.

Registration occurs during the month of September and practices officially
begin in mid-October.  The first games of the season begin on the first
weekend of December and generally ends at the end of February.  Playoffs for
all grade levels, with the exception of 3rd grade, are generally held at the
end of February and beginning of March in a single elimination format.  The top four
teams within each grade level and division are eligible to participate in the
playoffs.  Every effort is made to schedule 10 games (5 home games and 5 away
games) for each team.  However, due to the number of teams available in each
grade level and division, this may not always be possible and some teams may
be given byes.

composition, and rules, go to CYO Rules .
